Entry |
The confirmed teams’ entry list as well as useful information related to the event are enclosed to this Event’s Regulations and available on the FIVB website (2010 Handbook, Chapter 9).
Entry Points are the sum of individual ranking points based on the best 4 results out of the last 5 FIVB World Championships, Grand Slam, Open, Challenger (see point 9.1.B.1 above), Satellite (see point 9.1.B.1 above) and participations within the last 365 days. FIVB recognized Continental Tour may be given the possibility to attribute points towards the World Ranking. Teams that compete in a Challenger event that are ranked in the top 24 men’s teams or the top 16 women’s teams (as per the entry deadline -30 days before the start of the event) will not have their Entry Points (best 4 of last 5 tournaments) affected by participating in such a Challenger event. By definition, this regulation can only affect wild card teams and/or host country teams. The confirmed entry list will indicate with a symbol teams that will not have their Entry Points affected by this event (host and wild card teams ranked in top 24 men’s teams or top 16 women’s teams). In general, the points from a Challenger count if it is a benefit for any teams to calculate these points. For this latter event, Entry Points may count if it is under the FIVB’s jurisdiction or the Confederations concerned fulfil the FIVB requirements.

Player’s Eligibility |
Only players who sent in to the FIVB in due time the required forms
- NF-Player’s Commitment duly signed by all parties and in good standing with the FIVB will be considered eligible to take part in the 2010 FIVB Channai Challenger.
- New registered athletes will be required to provide the NF/Player’s Commitment to the FIVB in due time.
Players ranked in the top 24 men’s teams and in the top 16 women’s teams (as per the entry deadline -30 days before the start of the event) are not allowed to take part in Challenger events. This rule does not apply to 2 host country teams and 2 wild cards per gender upon approval of the FIVB.

Qualification Matches |
The teams which are not in the world ranking list or do not have sufficient entry points will play the Qualification matches to qualify for the Main Draw. |
Main Draw |
The Main Draw teams will be determined in accordance with the entry points regulations. |
Board & & Lodging |
The Promoter will provide accommodation (double room) in the designated Hotel with 3 meals for the Qualification Tournament and Main Draw teams free of charge, starting from 2 days before the the respective tournaments(i.e the breakfast of September 26th,Sunday for the Qualification Tournament teams & the breakfast of September 27th, Monday for the Main Draw teams). The promoter will provide the accommodation until October 3rd for all the MD and QT teams that would like to stay even after the elimination.
Usage of Internet Facilities, Complementary Gym and Swimming pool at the hotel will be free of charge.
Players will be personally responsible for all extras at the hotel such as mini-bar, phone calls, laundry, etc to be paid upon checkout.

UNIFORMS |
Promoter will provide playing Uniforms to all the participating teams (i.e. Qualification Tournament and Main Draw). Teams are requested to send the measurement for the uniforms to the Promoters along with their entry by 6th September, 2010 |
RULES OF THE GAME |
Playing system
Rally Point System 2 out of 3 sets as follows:
a) First and second sets
- 21 Points
- switch every 7 points
- one technical time-out of 30" at third court switch (sum of 21 points)
- one time-out of 30" per team/set
b) Third eventual set
-
15 points
- switch every 5 points
- one time-out per team
All sets win by 2 points
Intervals between sets to be of 1 minute
Official Ball: NEW MIKASA VLS-300 (67 cm +1/-1).

ENTRY, SEEDING AND WITHDRAWAL |
Entry, Seeding and Withdrawal: As per the 2010 FIVB Handbook and relevant FIVB regulations.
The FIVB Web site will be updated after every withdrawal and substitution of players approved by the FIVB once the confirmed list issued. For further details please refer to Chapter 9 and 11 of the 2010 Handbook.

INSURANCE |
It is mandatory that all athletes have their own liability and Medical Insurance. The FIVB will not be held responsible for any Medical expenses incurred while competing in a tournament |
TRANSPORTATION |
Players are responsible for any Airport taxes or visa expenses. All players are requested to apply early enough for their entry visas, whenever needed.
The promoter offers international travel subsidy for Main Draw and Qualification Tournament teams as follows:

The travel subsidy will be paid upon arrival to the teams by the promoter.
The organizer will arrange and be responsible for all local transportation for all participants, officials and referees including transportation between the nearest International Airport and the site, and when needed, between the official hotel and the venue of any technical and official hospitality
