The object of the game is to send the ball over the net ill order to ground
it on the opponent's
court and to prevent the same effort by the opponent.
The team has three hits for returning the ball (including the block touch).
The ball is put in play with a service hit by the server over the net to the
opponents. The rally
continues until the ball is grounded on the playing court, goes "out"
or a team fails to return
in properly.
In Beach Volleyball, the tCU11 winning a rally scores a point ( Rally Point
System). When the
receiving team wins a rally, it gains a point and the right to serve. The serving
player must be
alternated every time this occurs.
FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT
DIMENSIONS
The playing court is a rectangle measuring 16 x 8 m surrounded by a free zone
with a minimum
of 3 m wide and with a space free from any obstructions up to a height of a
minimum of 7 m from
the playing surface.
PLAYING SURFACE
The terrain must be composed of leveled sand, as flat and uniform as possible,
free of rocks,
shells and anything else, which can represent risks of cuts or injuries to the
players.The playing
surface must not present any danger of injuries to the players.The depth of
the sand is min 40 em.
LINES ON THE COURT
Two sidelines and two end lines mark the playing court, Both side and end lines
are
placed inside the dimensions of the playing court.
There is No Centerline.
All lines are 5 - 8 cm wide.
The width of lines and side bands should be uniform.
HEIGHT OF THE NET
The height ofthe net shall be 2.43 m for men and 2.24 m for women.

PARTICIPANTS
A team is composed exclusively of two playtrs.
Only the two players recorded on the score sheet may participate in the match.
PLAYER'S EQUIPMENT
A player's equipment consists of short 0': a bathing suit. A jersey or 'tank-top'
is optional
except when specified in Toumament Regulations. Players may wear a hat.
Player must play barefoot except when authorized by the refer';es.
Player's jerseys or shorts must be numbered 1& 2.The number must be placed
on the
chest and on the front of the shorts.
If players are allowed to play without shirt, the number must be written on
hand shoulders
Players may wear glasses at their own risk.
POINT, SET AND MATCH WINNER
TO WIN A MATCH
The match is won by the team that wins two sets.
In the case of I - I tie, the deciding set (3rd) is played to 15 points with
a minim_m lead
of 2 points.
TO WIN A SET
A set (except the dec.lding 3 rd set) is won by the team that first scores
21 points with c
minimum lead of 2 points. In the case of 20 - 20 tie the plaJ is continued until
a 2 poinl
lead is reached (22 -20,23 -21 etc).
The deciding set is played to 15 points with a minimum lead ) 2 points.
TO WIN A RALLY
Whenever a team fails in its service or fails to return the ball or commits
any other fault,
the opposing team wins the rally, with one of the following consequences.
If the opposing team served, it scores a point and continues to serve..
If the opposing team received the service, it gains the right to serve and also
scores a point.
DEFAULT AND INCOMPLETE TEAM
If a team refuses to play after being summoned to do so, it is declared in default
and
forfeits the match with the result 0 - 2 for the match 0 - 21, 0 - 21 for the
sets.
A team that does not appear on the playing court on time is declared in default
with the
same result as in the a_ove point.
SUBSTITUTIONS
There are no substitutions or replacement of players.
PLAYER'S POSITIONS
At the moment the ball is hit by the server, each team must be within its own
court
(except the server). The players are free to position themselves. There are
No
determined positions on the court.
BALL "IN" The ball is "in" when it touches the ground of
the pJaying court including
the boundary lines.
BALL "OUT" The ball is "out" when it
(a) falls on the ground completely outside the boundary lines (without touching
them)
(b) touches the antennae, ropes, post or the net itself outside the side bands
and antenna
PLAYING THE BALL
Each team is entitled to a maximum of three hits for returning the ball over
the net.
Blocking touches are counted as a team hit.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HIT
The ball may touch any part of the body.
The ball must be hit, not caught or thrown. It can rebound in any direction.
Exceptions In defensive action of a hard driven ball. In this case, the ball
can be
held momentarily overheat with fingers.
PENETRATION INTO THE OPPONENT'S SPACE, COURT AND FREE ZONE]
A player may enter into the opponent's space, court and / or free zone, provided
that
does not interfere with the opponent's play.
The penetration is under the discretions of the referee's.
CONTACT WITH THE NET
It is forbidden to touch any part of the net or the antennae.
Once the player has hit the ball, he / she may touch the poot, ropes or any
other object:
outside the total length of the net provided that this action does not interfere
with play.
When the ball is driven into the net, which causes it to touch an opponent,
no fault
committed.
Incidental contact of hair is not a fault.
SCREENING
The teammates of the server must not prevent either opponents, through screening,
from seeinf the .server or the path of the ball. On the opponent's request,
they may move
sideways.
TIME-OUTS
A Time-out is a regular game interruption and it _asts for one- minute, which
is divided
as 15 - 30 - 15 seconds. To Come out - Time out -- Get in respect:vely.'
For FIVB World Competitions, in sets i and 2, one additional 30 second Technical
Tie
out is automatically. allocated when the sum of the points scored by the teams
equals 21
points.
NUMBER OF TIME OUTS
Each team is entitled to a maximum of a one time - out per set (60 seconds).
And a technical time out at the third court switch in firsl and second sets
only.
No technical timeout for 3rd set.
INJURY
Should a serious accident occur while the ball is in play, thc referee must
stop the game
immediately. The rally is then re played. On request of the player that he has
injured, the
referee must allow to avail injury time out.
An injured player is given a maximum of 5 minutes to recovery time on time a
match.
The referee must authorize the properly accredited medical staff to enter the
playing court
to attend the player. Only the referee may authorize that a player may leave
the playing area
without penalty. At the conclusion of 5 minute recovery, the referee will whistle
and request
the player to continue. At this time, only the playt::r can judge weather he
/ s:1e is fit to play.
The 5 minute injury time out starts when the medical staff attends the player
or the referee
may authorize.
COURT SWITCHES
The team switch after every 7 points which means total sum of team points for
Set 1 and
2-, 5 points for Set 3 played.
INTERVALS
The interval between each set last 1 minute.
During court switches the teams must change immediately without delay.
